Utter Nunsense is a chat show with a difference! Hosted by drag nuns Sister Alaska Lott and Sister Babeushka from the Order of Perpetual Indulgence, this show covers all things LGBTQ+ with plenty of laughs, glitter, and side tracks into hilarious nunsense.

So pour yourself a cup of tea, put up your feet, and prepare to listen to some Utter Nunsense!

A new episode will be released every month at the start of the month as both a Youtube video and as a podcast, so you can pick the best way for you to engage with Utter Nunsense. Each month we will discuss a certain topic that has been on our mind, which can range from topics that affect the wider community as well as certain topics close to us as Sisters of the Order of Perpetual indulgence. This allows us to give a variety of things for you to watch, so if you want to know more about the Order of Perpetual Indulgence you can, otherwise you can just binge episodes reacting to memes or talking through things we have witnessed in the queer community.

Some of the topics that have been covered include:

  • Gatekeeping within the queer community

  • Looking at memes about oddly gendered products

  • Incredible people from the LGBTQ+ community who mad history

  • Going over just how we look so fabulous with our makeup

  • ..and trust us, there is so much more we have on the list of episodes!

    022: Stories of Trans Joy

November is an important month for raising awareness of our trans siblings and the issues they face, as well as a time for remembering those we have unfortunately lost during the year at Trans Day of Rememberence.

Since this month can sometimes be emotionally heavy, Sisters Alaska Lott and Babeushka wanted to share some stories from our trans siblings reminding us how joyful life can be when living our truth to its fullest!

And to add to the joy, we even had not one, but TWO special guests from the Glasgow Mission to share in all the joy!

015: It's All About That Ace

In honour of International Asexuality Day, first celebrated on 6th April 2021, we're delving into the A of LGBTQIA to discover more about the asexuals, aromantics, agender, and abrosexuals of our queer family. We'll be discussing definitions, related terms, flags, and representation in society.

And of course we felt we had to include mention of the crisis currently unfolding in Ukraine.

We're particularly aware of the risk posed to LGBTQ+ people and Putin's so-called 'hitlist' of queer activists. If you need help fleeing state-sponsored violence or wish to help others, we recommend getting in touch with the Rainbow Railroad: https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/

You can also donate to the Help Ukraine Emergency Appeal via GoFundMe, where funds raised will be distributed equally between two internationally recognised charities to provide humanitarian aid in Ukraine. The link is: http://gofundme.com/helpukraine

016: The Unspoken Problem in the Queer Community

In honour of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), celebrated on the 17th May every year, we're delving into a rarely talked about issue within the queer community: GATEKEEPING.

We often think of Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia as being only external to the queer community, but sometimes members of the LGBTQIA+ family are also known to judge and try to exclude others also based on people's gender, sexuality, presentation, life experiences, and more.

So Sisters Alaska Lott and Babeushka are here to call that sh*t out!

018: The Truth Behind Our BBC Documentary

During the covid-19 pandemic we were part of a BBC documentary, released in August 2021, that followed Sister Babeushka on their journey from Novice nun to black veil.

But what really happened behind the scenes?

In amongst lockdowns and Sister Joan's antics, we finally reveal the dramatic final hours leading up to the moment we finally got our black veils. This is everything you WON'T see on the BBC!

You can watch the 'The Black Veil' on BBC iPlayer: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000...

And if you're based in Edinburgh, we highly reccomend a visit to / kafekweer

PLEASE NOTE: Sister Joan does not represent any one person. She is a plot device allowing us to touch on a range of different topics, which may or may not have real people behind them, as well as inject a little extra humour.
